Carolyn was raised in Orem Utah and is the daughter of Zelda Mae Wilkinson and Howard Burton Egbert. She has a younger sister Anne Egbert Christensen. Carolyn and Art met on a blind date and were married March 23, 1953 in the Manti, Utah temple. Carolyn worked at the original Snelgrove Ice Cream to help put Art through graduate school. Mom told us that when she applied Mr. Snelgrove came to her house to inspect her kitchen to make sure it was clean. The only other requirement for employment was she had to be a full tithe payer – which she was. She worked the late shift and would bring home a caramel milkshake for Art each night! They settled in Granger, Utah and had four children – Annette, Dennis, Charlynn & Kelly. In 1966 dad was transferred with the federal government to San Francisco, CA.

Art and Carolyn moved their family to the East Bay Area of California (Pleasant Hill/Walnut Creek). Their fifth child Jon Charles was born in Walnut Creek. They were active members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Faith and gospel standards were an important part of their lives. Like many families, ours had its challenges, but mom always did the best she could. As time passed, we found forgiveness and were able to rebuild our relationships.

Carolyn held many church callings but her favorites were seminary teacher and ward organist. She loved playing the hymns, her favorite being Lead, Kindly Light. She loved music and instilled music appreciation in her children in a wide variety of genres which included classical, big band, old-timey country, gospel music, easy listening and some classic rock. She loved Johnny Cash, Tom Jones and Liberace. Grandma's house was always the gathering place for family events, holidays and just getting together. Memorial Day was the most memorable as all the grandkids would descend on their pool and swim for hours! Grandma would entice the little ones to leave by telling them to "Go get buckled in the car and grandma will bring you a treat!”

After serving 4 full-time missions (Sacramento, CA; Salt Lake City Temple Square; Novosibirsk, Russia; Ghana, Africa) Art & Carolyn relocated to Roseville, CA where they remained until 2020 at which time they relocated to St George, UT to be closer to daughters Charlynn & Kelly.

Carolyn will always be remembered for her sassy, quick witted and strong opinionated personality. She would often throw around some colorful language when she was upset, angry - or any time she felt like it! She has left a hole in our hearts, and especially her grandchildren's. That is how we choose to remember her—with love, grace, and gratitude. As she got older her favorite thing to say was "I hate getting old, it's the shits!" We know she is at peace and happy to be reunited with our dad, sister and many other family members and friends.

Carolyn Egbert Woffinden is preceded in death by a daughter Annette (2010) and her husband of 68 years Charles Arthur Woffinden (2021). She is survived by her son Dennis Woffinden, daughter Charlynn (Ed) Oborn, daughter Kelly (Ray) Cannon and son Jon (Brandia) Woffinden. 19 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren.
