Charlotte Louise
Goyen
July 23, 1941 – May 18, 2026
Charlotte “Charly” Louise Goyen, age 84, of St. George, Utah, passed away peacefully at her home on May 18, 2026, surrounded by her family. Charlotte was born on July 23, 1941, in Grand Junction, the daughter of Amos and Anna Bruner. She grew up in Grand Junction, Colorado before later moving to Idaho Falls, Idaho where she met her future husband, Mark J. Goyen. The two were married in 1965 and built a life together centered on family, faith, hard work, and service to others. Over the years, Charlotte lived in Idaho Falls, Blackfoot, and Shelley, Idaho, where she raised and cared for her family. She was known for her kindness, strength, practical wisdom, and deep love of people, animals, and the outdoors.
Charlotte worked for a time as a veterinary assistant and had a special affection for animals, particularly her beloved horses and mules. Her desire to help others eventually led her to further schooling in midwifery, where she became a state-certified professional midwife. She was especially honored to help deliver some of her own relatives’ children, including several of her grandchildren. “Charly” found great joy in raising and caring for her horses and mules and embraced many passions throughout her life. She loved playing the piano, motorcycle riding, hunting, fishing, painting, gardening, flowers, camping in the mountains, and traveling. Her greatest happiness came from helping others, something she demonstrated consistently throughout her life. Charlotte was also a devoted and active member of Jehovah’s Witnesses and deeply valued sharing her faith and Bible-based hope with others through her ministry. She remained active in her ministry up until her passing. Alongside her husband, she spent approximately 23 years serving as a full-time missionary in ten different states throughout the United States. During those years, she formed many lasting friendships and shared her Bible-based hope of a promised future time when the earth would be restored to a paradise and those who had died would be resurrected to enjoy perfect life and health. This hope remained very close to her heart and continues to bring comfort to her family as they look forward to the time they will be reunited with her again. Charlotte is survived by her beloved husband, Mark J. Goyen; her sister, Jeanne Selle; her daughter, Kari Leigh Barlow; her sons, Adam M. Goyen and Mark A. Goyen; as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.
Her love, faith, and adventurous spirit will remain in the hearts of all who knew her.
