David R. Halls, “Davey,” passed away peacefully in his sleep from a heart attack on October 21, 2026, at the age of 47. David was born February 26, 1979, in Salt Lake City, Utah, and was the son of Nord and Sally Halls of West Jordan, Utah.
David was the sixth of seven children. He had three brothers and three sisters who loved him dearly. David graduated from West Jordan High School in 1997 and spent his life in West Jordan. Throughout his working years, and in his current role as a warehouse manager, David was known for his strong work ethic, dependability, and willingness to learn. He took pride in his work and could always be counted on to do his best.
David had a natural ability for learning how to do things, and he was a quick study when it came to working with his hands. He learned many of his skills from his dad and through scouting. Davey loved the outdoors, and fishing was his greatest passion. He spent as much time as he could camping and fishing in Star Valley, Wyoming, where he was happiest. His fishing adventures also took him on bigger trips, including Alaska and sturgeon fishing in Idaho. These outdoor experiences were among the things he treasured most.
Davey was talented when it came to sports and was especially good at basketball and softball. In his adult years, he played in several softball leagues and especially enjoyed playing slow-pitch alongside his brother, Jared, as well as many friends and co-workers. Whether he was working, playing ball, enjoying the outdoors, or simply spending time with others, Davey valued the friendships and connections that made life special, and was the type of guy that would give you the shirt off his back.
Onyx, Davey’s dog, was his constant, faithful companion and we know she will miss her best friend. There was a strong bond between the two of them and David was known to randomly text pictures of Onyx to the family text chain just to share a little glimpse of his day and let everyone know how much she meant to him.
David is survived by his mother, Sally Halls; his siblings, Lorrie (Tim) Aalders, Jerry (Heidi) Halls, Diana (Ed) Pennington, Jared (Jennifer) Halls, Adam (Lori) Halls, and Natalie (Chris) Higginson; along with many nieces, nephews, and friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Nord Halls, his beloved niece, Sarah Aalders Allart, and his Godson, Reid Beckwith.
A Celebration of Life honoring David will be held on Sunday, November 1, 2026, from 3:00-5:00 p.m. at the Springhill Suites by Marriott Salt Lake City-South Jordan located at 11280 South River Heights Drive, South Jordan, Utah 84095. Family and friends are welcome to gather to remember Davey and celebrate the life he lived.
