Janice Combe Horne, age 82, passed away on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, in St. George, Utah. She was born on March 5, 1944, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Grant Combe and Maurine Clark Combe.

Jan grew up in Salt Lake City, where she worked at her dad’s vitamin store and graduated from Highland High School in 1962.

Jan had always dreamed of becoming a stewardess and had been accepted into the program for one of the major airlines. However, she realized that being a wife and mother was more important to her, so she set that dream aside to marry the love of her life, O. Charles “Chuck” Horne, on November 24, 1965, in the Mesa Arizona Temple.

Jan was devoted to her husband, Chuck, and her four children, Shelley, Chris, Leslie and Denise, as she raised her family in Las Vegas, Nevada. She thrived as a homemaker and always made sure her family was well cared for. She was famously known for always having treats for her kids, which may explain why so many of them still have a sweet tooth to this day!

Jan had many talents and could accomplish just about any task, no matter the time or place. Being the socialite that she was, Jan always found time to gather family and friends together, creating a welcoming and loving home where everyone felt comfortable.

Jan served faithfully in various callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and spent countless hours serving others as she lived her faith daily. She had a very strong testimony of her Savior, Jesus Christ.

One of Jan’s greatest blessings, and a source of tremendous joy throughout her life, was her posterity of 18 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She loved spending time with them and supporting them in their activities whenever she could.

Janice was preceded in death by her loving husband, Chuck, and her son, Chris.

She is survived by her children, Shelley (Jeff), Leslie (Tim), Denise, and her daughter-in-law
