Jon Andrew Marzo, age 56, of Salt Lake City, Utah, passed away on Friday, May 15, 2026, leaving behind a life that could best be described as intentional, humorous, and true.
Jon’s greatest love was his massive family. He connected with them through more ways than could fit on this page, bringing light and joy to those around him. He never stopped loving. He had a remarkable capacity to forgive and a deep sense of empathy for others. He genuinely wanted to help people and was always there to offer a soft hand, an open ear, or a supportive shoulder. He spent much time with his siblings, creating countless memories. None were more treasured than the funny home movies they made together, filled with laughter and creativity.
His pride and joy are his children. Steven Jon Marzo, born in February 1995, and named for him. Kelli Brianne Marzo, born in July 1997, and as close to him as one could get. Alexander Colin Marzo, born in September 1999, with his sense of humor, and love of family. Tina Nicole Marzo, married into the family in November 2021, shared with him a strong love for family and photography.
His whole world was his grandchildren. Paisley Raine Marzo, born in April 2023, she was his princess sent from heaven. Jonathan Harvey Marzo, coming in September 2026, and named for him. He was very excited to meet him.
A self-taught drummer, Jon had a natural sense of rhythm and a deep love for music. The sounds of 1980s rock bands were the soundtrack of his life. Whether behind the drums or simply listening, music was his way of connecting, expressing, and bringing energy to those around him.
Jon had a deep passion for aviation and adventure. He traveled the world, often on his own, but enjoyed it most with his children by his side. Not just to reach destinations, but to experience different airlines and the journeys they offered. He was an avid collector of airline memorabilia, from cups and wings to magazines and more. Each piece told a different story of adventure. Being in the clouds seemed to set him free, almost like an angel, and he loved the unique vantage point of looking down at the earth from above. For him, flying wasn’t just travel. It was wonder, perspective, and joy.
He was a devoted Utah Jazz fan, cheering them on through every season with unwavering loyalty. Win or lose, his enthusiasm for the team never faded.
As an Eagle Scout, Jon exemplified commitment, perseverance, and a strong sense of service. Qualities that stayed with him throughout his life.
A devoted man of god, Jon believed in biblical truth, and that through his love for Christ, he would one day be able to reunite with those he loved. Those who went before him, and those who would come after. Through his faith, he was able to find both peace and salvation, and was very public of his love for Jesus Christ.
Jon’s legacy doesn’t end here, it simply remains in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. His life continues on in stories that will be told again and again. In the laughter he sparked so easily, and in the quiet moments where his presence is still deeply felt. It lives on in the rhythm of the music he loved, in the skies he traveled, and in the family he relentlessly cherished.
Enjoy this flight. It will be your most miraculous journey yet. Grab a window seat next to auntie, sit back, and take it all in. Your next destination will be filled with peace, bliss, and joy beyond measure. God be with you till we meet again.
