Our loving mother, wife, sister, aunt, and grandmother, Judith Myrlyn Nielsen Springer, passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on October 5, 2026. We take comfort in knowing she is no longer in pain and is joyfully reunited with two of her children, parents, stepparents, grandparents, siblings, and many other loved ones who passed on before her.
Judi was born on December 19, 1948, in Brigham City, Utah, to Mark E. Nielsen II and Myrlyn Tueller. She attended Box Elder High School, graduating in 1967, and cherished her years as a BEette. She went on to attend Weber State University, where she met the love of her life, Max Eugene Springer, at an LDS Institute dance. Max and Judi were married in the Salt Lake Temple on September 3, 1970, sharing 56 wonderful years of marriage together.
Judi spent most of her childhood growing up in Brigham City, Utah. As a child, she worked at her grandfather's movie theater (Roxy) on Main Street in Brigham City, enjoying the strong relationship she had with her grandparents. Judi dedicated her years to being a devoted homemaker, loving mother, and support to her husband. She worked for many years as a part-time secretary for the Jordan School District in various departments and schools. A faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Judi served in many callings in the South Jordan 3rd Ward, with her time in the Young Women organization being her absolute favorite. Her life was defined by selfless service and unconditional love; she would do anything for anyone, always with a warm smile and without hesitation. She enjoyed family history and temple work, traveling, and enjoyed teaching others how to do their own family history.
She is survived by her loving husband, Max E. Springer; her daughters, Melissa Collen and Cherie (Kirk) Wilkins; her sisters, Pat Walker and Kristy Walton; 11 grandchildren: Brayden (Stephanie), Mackenzie (Brendan), Rorie, Alex (Samantha), James, Abbie (Garrett), Kiera, LillieAnne, Alyx, Dakota, and Jo; and eight great-grandchildren: Kallie, Emma, Aubrey, Landon, Annabelle, Sophia, Lukas, and Emily.
She was preceded in death by two of her beloved children, Matthew and Stacie Jo; her parents, Mark E. Nielsen II and Myrlyn Tueller; and stepmother, Myrna Nielsen; her sister, Gloria Nielsen, and brother, Mark E. Nielsen III; as well as her grandparents, parents-in-law, and other family members.
The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to Murray City first responders for their compassionate help and support, and to the countless neighbors, ward members, and friends who have offered words of comfort, service, and love during this time. We know she touched and changed many lives for the better.
