Kathryn Jane Stanley, 75, passed away peacefully on July 30, 2026.

Kathryn was born on October 6, 1950, in Butte, Montana, to John and Betty Horton Svaldi. During her childhood, her father's military service required the family to move frequently before eventually returning to their roots in Ouray, Colorado, where she was raised and spent much of her life. Her family shared a rich Italian heritage, as her grandparents immigrated from Italy to Colorado, where they helped build their lives working in the silver mines.

Following her graduation from high school, Kathryn answered the call to serve her country by enlisting in the United States Army. She proudly served for three years as a Military Police officer while stationed in Germany, an experience she carried with pride throughout her life.

After returning home, Kathryn found joy in the game of golf and devoted many years to caring for the courses she loved. As a greenskeeper, she took great pride in maintaining beautiful greens and enjoyed spending countless hours outdoors, surrounded by the game that brought her so much happiness.

In her later years, declining health led Kathryn to Southern Utah, where she made her home with her devoted stepdaughter, Lea Stanley and her husband Ken Hafen. The years they shared together became a treasured chapter in Kathryn's life. She grew especially close with Lea and her family, finding comfort in their love and companionship. Kathryn also developed a deep appreciation for the striking beauty of Southern Utah, especially the red rock landscapes and peaceful scenery of Snow Canyon, which brought her great joy.

Kathryn will be remembered for her dedication to her country, her strong work ethic, her love of golf, and the quiet appreciation she found in nature and family. Those who knew her will remember her with love and gratitude for the time they shared.

Kathryn was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Peter L. Stanley; her parents, John and Betty Horton Svaldi; and her four younger siblings, Cristy, Cindy, Christopher, and James.

She is survived by her four stepdaughters, Lea (Ken Hafen) Stanley, Amber Ekker, Dee (Jim) Redshirt, Tami (Tom) Kelley, and the family who welcomed her with open arms and lovingly cared for her during her final years. She also leaves behind extended family members and friends who will cherish her memory.

Kathryn's family extends their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who offered kindness, friendship, and support throughout her life. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
