William Erick Cox Sr

William Erick Cox Senior, a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, peacefully departed this world in the comforting embrace of his family. Born on November 2, 1938, in Murray, Utah, Bill's life was a testament to love, service, and devotion to those around him.

Bill was the cherished son of John Henry Cox and Pauline Dolores Peterson, both of whom preceded him in death, along with his loving girlfriend Esther Galvez, his brothers John, Donald, Ken and Doug and his sisters Margaret, Irene and Vera, and his son Jason and daughter in law Cherry. He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with his surviving family: his sons Bill Cox and wife Renae, Troy Bowman and wife Missy, and Chris Bowman. His warmth and laughter will continue to echo in the hearts of his 18 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren, who adored him deeply.

A proud veteran, Bill served his country with distinction and was honorably discharged from the Marines. His sense of duty and commitment extended beyond his military service, as he spent many years working diligently as a security guard in California. In his later years, Bill found solace and community as an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where his faith continued to guide his path.

Bill's passions were as vibrant as his spirit. He delighted in the thrill of riding his Goldwing motorcycle and was an avid collector of sports memorabilia, particularly trading cards. Known for his love of chocolate and ice cream, Bill was a man who found joy in the simple pleasures of life. His love for music and dancing, along with his penchant for dressing up for outings, painted the picture of a man who embraced life with enthusiasm and grace.

Generous and kind-hearted, Bill always carried a pocket full of candy, ready to share sweetness and smiles with those he encountered. His love for family and friends was boundless, and he relished every opportunity to gather and connect with them. He was a man who cherished hugs, recognizing them as the simple gestures of love and connection they are.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Bill's life at a viewing on September 17, 2026 from 6-8 PM at the Early Duke ward building, located at 4444 Early Duke. And then his funeral will be held on September 18, 2026 at 10:00 AM. After which burial will be next to his parents at Lake Hills Cemetery located at 10055 S, State St, Sandy. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice, honoring Bill's generous spirit.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the Harmon and Kearns Senior Centers for the warmth and care during the many luncheons and activities Bill attended. Deep appreciation is also extended to the home health nurses and the caregivers at Holladay Healthcare, whose compassion and kindness provided comfort to Bill and his family.
